UPDATE: The June 2023 PlayStation Plus Essentials have been officially unveiled by Sony. Available to download from June 6, the free PS4 and PS5 games include NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Trek to Yomi.
ORIGINAL: Sony is about to announce the PlayStation Plus Essentials line-up for June 2023. The next batch of PS Plus games will be announced at 4.30pm BST UK time on May 31. The free PS4 and PS5 games will be available to download and play less than a week later on June 6. The PlayStation Plus Essentials tend to leak ahead of schedule, so keep checking back for all the latest news and updates. The June line-up will replace the current games, which consist of Grid Legends, Descenders, and Chivalry 2.
GRID Legends contains a variety of racing disciplines, which are all tied together via a surprisingly entertaining story.
“GRID Legends delivers thrilling wheel-to-wheel motorsport and edge of your seat action around the globe.
“Create your dream motorsport events, hop into live multiplayer races, be part of the drama in an immersive virtual production story, and embrace the sensation of spectacular action racing.”
The Codemasters racing game is joined by medieval multiplayer game Chivalry 2, as well as downhill biking game Descenders.
Descenders features procedurally-generated downhill stages, which means no two runs are ever the same.
Remember, you have until the morning of June 6 to download the May releases, so don’t delay.
As we wait for Sony to make the official announcement, fans have been attempting to predict the June line-up of free PS4 and PS5 games.
In a regular thread over on Reddit, multiple PlayStation Plus subscribers believe Alan Wake Remastered will be given away for free in June, especially after the sequel was given a release date during the recent PlayStation Showcase.
Unique role-playing Disco Elysium also features in the predictions thread, alongside roguelike action game Hades.
Some hopeful fans think Sekiro could join PS Plus in June, plus the likes of Sifu, FIFA 23, Mortal Kombat 11 and Death’s Door.
In terms of first-party games, The Last of Us Part 2 and Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart are the most likely candidates to join PS Plus in June.
