Now we are all over Christmas, we must now look to Easter to bring some merriment to what has already been a difficult year.

This, of course, means lots of chocolate, which we are very excited about.

But if you are vegan, you can still enjoy in the festive trend, and supermarket M&S has just the thing, although it has already raised a few eyebrows.

The famous firm have just released an aubergine shaped chocolate as part of their Plant Kitchen range.

Posting it to Instagram, they wrote: “Stop scrolling: our ‘Egg-Plant Kitchen’ vegan Easter egg is here to brighten up your January in all its aubergine-shaped glory. You can thank us later. Pick it up in store now!”

However, many social media users quickly drew parallels with the aubergine emoji, which has a rather X-rated meaning which we won’t divulge here.

One person wrote said: “Jesus isn’t the only thing that rose again at Easter!”

While another commented: “I can see that being a Valentine gift for the [aubergine emoji] fans.”

A third added: “I wonder if Ann Summers will be selling them as well!”

The aubergine Easter egg costs £6 and is available to buy in stores now.

But if you would like a more family friendly Easter gift, M&S have also launched another very delectable addition to their festive chocolate range; an adorable sausage dog.

The yummy-looking pooch is called Walter and comes in a kennel shaped box which is emblazoned with the slogan “pawsitively delicious”.

For the dog lovers among us, this is a fabulous alternative to an egg, but the only issue is it is almost to cute to eat.

Walter costs just £5 and is already proving to be very popular online.

A picture of the treat was shared to the Instagram account @newsfoodsuk, alongside the caption: “Chocolate Walter The Sausage Dog now available at @marksandspencer”.

At the time of writing it had received thousands of likes and plenty of comments, with followers expressing their delight and tagging their mates.

One person wrote: “think I might need a Walter!”

While another, clearly referring to how sweet the dog looks, added: “I’m not sure id want to eat it”.

A third commented: “OMG how cool.”
