Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid have sent their love to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the Duchess of Sussex announced she suffered a miscarriage.

Good Morning Britain presenters Piers, 55, and Susanna, 49, shared tributes to Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, as they spoke about the Duchess’ personal account shared in the New York Times.

After reading out sections of her essay, Piers said: “Deeply new revelation, it happened in July – very sad news, obviously, for her and Prince Harry.

“I think that will strike a chord for everyone as, sadly, many pregnancies end in miscarriage.”

GMB’s resident medical expert Dr Hilary then went on to explain how one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage.

He said: “Of course, it’s always a huge loss and it’s often a bereavement that lasts for the rest of their lives. It’s very important that they get some counselling and move on.”

Susanna then added: “One thing that it will do is that it will provide some comfort to other people who have been in that situation when somebody so high profile speaks out about something that is very difficult to talk about.”

GMB star Susanna continued to praise Meghan for her “remarkable piece” about a “very difficult experience”.

Piers added: “It’s a very moving and powerful piece”, to which Susanna said: “Our love goes to the family.”

Speaking on her show on Wednesday morning, Lorraine Kelly said how Meghan opening up about her miscarriage would help a lot of people.

Referring to her own devastating miscarriage she suffered when she was younger, she said: “Just seeing this this morning, it was almost exactly the same.

“What really helped me was obviously being able to talk to you and being able to talk to other people and also Rosie, because she was only about six.

“And I know that she’s a lot younger than that, but that will really help having another child to focus on.

“My heart just goes out to her, it’s just so sad. And how she’s done it is absolutely brilliant.”

It comes after Meghan described the “unbearable grief” she and Prince Harry had gone through in the emotional piece.

She explained how she felt a “sharp cramp” and “dropped to the floor” while changing her and Prince Harry’s son Archie, one, earlier this year.

Describing the moment she realised “something wasn’t right” she wrote in the account: “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second”.

Meghan, who recently shared a tribute to Caroline Flack on her birthday, continued: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

The Duchess of Sussex continued to describe how she looked back at the moment she was asked by ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship if she was “OK” as he followed the couple on their royal tour to South Africa last year.

She wrote: “I answered him honestly, not knowing that what I said would resonate with so many — new moms and older ones, and anyone who had, in their own way, been silently suffering.

“My off-the-cuff reply seemed to give people permission to speak their truth. But it wasn’t responding honestly that helped me most, it was the question itself.”

Meghan continued to explain how the experience made her realise how she and her husband Harry could “begin to heal”.
