It’s no secret that school uniforms can end up costing an arm and a leg.
But one particular high street retailer has done something a little different with its school trousers to save you some cash – and mums have only just discovered it.
It turns out there’s an amazing feature on Marks and Spencer school trousers for when your little one grows out of them. The trousers have a secret 3cm hem, which can be extended after growth spurts – genius.
Simply unpick the stitching, remove the thread and iron down the extra 3cm – and voilà, your youngster’s trousers can now last them the full year. This life hack is all thanks to a savvy mum, who took to Facebook to reveal the secret on the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas group.
“I was today years old when I found this out about M&S school trousers,” she said.
Fellow parents flocked to comment on the post, exclaiming how excited they were about this news. The post then quickly racked up over 5,000 likes and hundreds of comments. One mum commented “How did I not know this? There’s actually a proper double hem!” while another said “I’ve always bought M&S trousers, how did I not know?”
And it doesn’t stop there as Marks and Spencer uniforms also have stain and weatherproof technology to keep the fabric looking pristine throughout the year. They also have crease-resistant fabric to keep ironing a distant memory, and adjustable waist bands for added stretch and comfort.
The uniform sizing ranges from ages 2-18, so you can kit them out from preschool to high school – and you can shop the full range here.
I think it’s safe to say we know where we’ll be shopping next time round.
