A TikTok user has shared a brilliant trick that will get you a trolley at Lidl if you have no coins to insert in the slots.

Paul Stenson’s video has already clocked up more than 100,000 views, with many people thankful of the hack.

“Have you ever been in Lidl and you find you don’t have the €2 to put into the trolley?” he asks.

“Well, here’s a little hack that will save you.

“Forget about the €2 just put in a key.”

As he speaks, Paul pops in the circle side of his key into the coin slot and it is immediately freed.

It is worth pointing out his clever hack was used in Ireland – hence the €2 coin – so we can’t confirm or deny whether it works over here.

But, if the comments are anything to go by, it might be worth a go.

“You should be running the country,” one viewer wrote.

Another commented: “You’re a legend man.”

Others raised some potential problems with the trick, though.

A sceptic said: “Sure it works but then I’m constantly scared that someone would take my trolley and go away with it.”

While a third joked: “Instructions unclear, now the key is stuck and I’m locked out of my house.”

The trick has been used in the past for Asda trolleys in the UK, when customers forget their £1 coin.

In other Lidl news, the budget supermarket is now selling a heated shoulder, back and neck pad to help relieve muscle pain.
