In Bravo’s Real Housewives universe, reunion episodes are akin to the Super Bowl—castmates bring their A games and come decked out in full glam, ready to take each other on about the season’s misgivings.
However, in the first part of a three part Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 10 reunion, a brief glimpse of the West Coast ladies setting up their at-home studios without the aid of hair, makeup and glam squads has sparked an intense dialogue about one specific part of the body.
When veteran cast member Kyle Richards quickly grabs her face in exasperation during a tech rehearsal, viewers saw what they found to be a notable difference in how her hands have aged compared to her smooth, flawless complexion.
Within minutes of the reunion airing, a screenshot of Richards’ hands began making rounds on social media—as both the subject of countless blog posts on Bravo facebook groups and as the punchline of a meme noting the importance of including the hands in your skin care routine.
As dermatologists and Housewives fans alike speculated on the reality star’s hand-care habits, she quickly caught on to the criticism and responded saying her hands do not look like that at all. “I do not have pretty hands, but my hands do not look like this,” she wrote under a social media post using her image to promote hand treatments. “You would see [it] on the show or any picture of me. This is just mean, but hey, if you think it’ll give you business knock yourself out.”
And while it may be a combination of bad lighting, an unfortunate angle and high definition cameras, we have many ways to anti-age the backs of the hands today, including topical skin care, laser skin resurfacing treatments and hand fillers like Radiesse and Restylane Lyft. As the Housewife franchise is known to do, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see Richards and Co. making their way to the dermatologist at the start of Season 11 for some cutting-edge hand rejuvenation treatments.
