Linda Nolan has heartbreakingly revealed she was reminded of her sister Bernie as she looked in the mirror for the first time after loosing her hair amid her cancer battle.

Bernie Nolan was 53 when she passed away from breast cancer in 2013.

Seven years later, 61 year old former member of The Nolans opened up about her own cancer diagnosis, after being diagnosed with incurable cancer in her liver, in an interview on Good Morning Britain.

Speaking to GMB anchors Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd, Linda heartbreakingly revealed: “The first time I looked in the mirror, when I had my head shaved, I saw Bernie looking back at me.

“It was really sad, I cried, because I saw her looking back as a sick person, which saddened me again. People have always said we look alike but I’ve seen pictures of Bernie with no hair and I thought: ‘Oh my God, we’re like twins’.

“But, wherever she is I bet she will be going: ‘Get on with it girl,’ because she was amazing. She was an inspiration to so many people.”

GMB presenter Ben, 45, then said Linda was also an inspiration much like her beloved late sister.

During the emotional interview, which Linda’s sister Anne was supposed to be apart of as she has also been diagnosed with cancer, Linda admitted she was “traumatised” by her hair loss.

Describing seeing herself on TV series The Nolans Go Cruising with a full head of hair recently, she said: “It’s been difficult. And seeing it, seeing us all have such a great time and, of course, I always go: ‘Oh my hair! Look at my hair’ – jumps out at me, the hair.”

Ben later asked if there is hope that Linda’s hair will return, to which she said: “Oh yeah, I mean I had chemo in 2006 and I used a cold cap, which is – they just put this cap on that is freezing and it freezes the follicles in your hair. And I managed to keep my hair a little bit the last time.

“But, this time they didn’t have a cold cap that fitted, oddly enough. And that’s why my hair fell out and I was traumatised by it.

“I feel vain saying the worst thing is I’ve got no hair but it has been traumatising for me, it’s been a massive shock and, as I say, you just feel a bit weird saying: ‘I’ve got cancer but I have no hair’.”

Linda, who’s sister Coleen spoke out to support her and sister Anne, revealed her family have been supportive through her cancer battle.

She gushed: “My nieces and nephews are brilliant, the kids are brilliant.

“I opened the door and the little one just rolled about the floor. I said: ‘What’s wrong,’ she went: ‘You look so silly.’ So she broke the ice and everything was OK.”
