Katie Price has announced she is stepping back from the spotlight on doctors orders.
The former glamour model, 42, broke both her feet and ankles in a freak accident while on holiday in Turkey, and recently underwent gruelling surgery, lasting six hours, on her injuries.
On Thursday, the mum-of-five took to Instagram, explaining she would be taking some time off in order to fully recover but will return when she “feels ready”.
The post read: “Katie is taking some time out of the media spotlight.
“Her family and Drs have told Katie that she must rest in order to heal.
“Katie wants to thank everyone for their ongoing support and will be back when she feels ready.”
The reality TV star sustained serious injuries while jumping over a wall at a theme park which she visited with boyfriend Carl Woods and Junior and Princess, her two children with her first husband Peter Andre.
At the time, she said: “It was a silly little accident.
“I was running and jumped over a wall because it was a little short cut and didn’t really judge the height, and I fell funny on my ankles.
Specialists wanted to operate in Turkey but she wanted to wait until she was back in the UK for treatment.
According to The Sun, Doctors warned Katie she must lie down and keep her legs raised as much as possible in order for her to fully recover.
A source told the publication: “One of the hardest things for Katie has been the lack of sleep. The injury has made it nigh on impossible for her to get any rest and slowly that has ground her down.
“Doctors did warn Katie that it wouldn’t be plain sailing but she is gutted at the moment and everyone is having to rally to try and keep her spirits up.”
