Good Morning Britain fans will be delighted to hear Sean Fletcher is returning to the show in the coming weeks, after several months of absence.

The 46-year-old star confirmed his comeback on today’s GMB, discussing his return with presenters Adil Ray and Ranvir Singh.

Adil asked: “You’ll be back here soon, aren’t you? Aren’t you coming back here for a bit of a stint in August?”

Sean confirmed he would be appearing on the show next month, but admitted he wasn’t sure which date in August would mark his return to work.

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, viewers were delighted by the prospect of Sean’s return, as they took to their keyboards to welcome him back to the show.

However, before he makes his ITV comeback, Sean’s latest season of his travel show – Wonders of the Coast Path – will be hitting screens up and down the UK.

The six-part series sees the dad-of-two strolling through the valleys and beaches of the Welsh wilderness, exploring the countryside with a camera crew in tow.

Plugging the series with Adil and Ranvir, Sean said: “We filmed it last year, before lockdown.

“Underneath our noses, we often forget what we’ve got on our shores.

“There were just so many amazing things that we saw. It’s timely because people are starting to think about maybe not flying, maybe going abroad.”

Ranvir interjected, wondering whether Sean had been surprised by the beauty of the Welsh coastline.

She asked: “You know Wales better than some, because you speak Welsh, your wife is Welsh so you’ve really embraced the Welsh culture.

“But even for you were there still some surprises?”

Nodding his head, the GMB star replied: “Very much so. I always go to the same places so this really unearthed so many brilliant things that I hadn’t seen.”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
