A personal trainer has been vigilant about wearing face masks when working out during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ray Wetterlund III, who lives in San Diego, wants to protect fellow fitness fans so he’s kept his mouth covered when out in public.
The former bodybuilder, who has been running small group sessions during lockdown, thinks people should be taking all the steps they can to stay safe.
To encourage others to wear masks, the 36-year-old has been sharing pictures of himself pumping iron in face coverings with his 1.1M followers on Instagram page @muscle.
This has attracted criticism from some, who think wearing face masks is a “sham”.
Ray refuses to let the trolls hold him back – and thinks people should “wear (their) damn masks” instead of complaining about it.
He said: “My personal trainer, and friend, built a home gym…
“For the small group of us that got the opportunity to do one-on-one small group sessions, it is required we wear a mask, gloves, get a temperature check daily.
“I totally get it and cannot complain.
“Appointments are spaced out 30 minutes apart to allow proper cleaning between each client.”
Ray has no time for people who say they aren’t going to abide by these simple rules – and has told trolls to “eat sh*t” for arguing against him.
The fitness buff added: “The choice to not wear a mask is usually a reflection of vanity or a lack of understanding around when or where it’s appropriate to wear one.
“Some people said they found masks uncomfortable, and thus a nuisance they were unwilling to tolerate.
“Others were sceptical how much difference they made outside on a sunny day.
“Then there’s also those who believe in conspiracy theories and such.”
Ray says there’s nothing uncomfortable about wearing a mask if you get one that fits well and is breathable enough.
He thinks those who don’t give it try and breach guidelines are being “selfish”.
The personal trainer said: “I’m responsible for myself, and my actions and I wouldn’t want to feel responsible for not doing my part and putting others at risk.
“It’s selfish, and just thinking about yourself by going against all suggested health order and CDC [Centres for Disease Control] guidelines… that’s why we as a nation are not getting past coronavirus.
“We MUST learn to live with it, because she’s not going away!
“So wear your damn mask! It’s that simple – or just quit complaining and stay the f*** home.”
